CT scans expose children to radiation that could give them cancer, according to a review of children’s imaging data published Wednesday in the British medical journal Lancet.
Here’s another study highlighting the problems with potentially over-intervening with ones health. Just because we have the knowledge and technology to perform these procedures does not mean they should be performed routinely without considering their effects. For every action there is a reaction. The question that needs to be asked is ‘should’ this test performed not ‘could’ this test be performed. From mammograms, to prostate exams and now CT scan, questions have been arising about the consequences we face from performing all these complex procedures. New research and data shows that over utilization of invasive tests and procedures can actually lead to more or new problems and can misdiagnose and lead to unnecessary treatment. Always consider all consequences and potential side-effects of all procedures, be well-informed, ask questions and remember every action has a reaction.
